Alana's story for nature
In this episode of the Generation Nature podcast, hosted by Ramandeep Nijjar, Alana Wheat shares her journey into environmental sustainability, discussing her childhood experiences with nature, her university life, and her current PhD project focused on community engagement in conservation. Alana emphasises the importance of citizen science and how individuals can contribute to environmental efforts, regardless of their background. She also shares insights on time management and prioritisation during her studies, highlighting the need for balance and self-care in pursuing one's passions.
Alana is a PhD Researcher on the ‘Nature In Your Neighbourhood’ project in the Staffordshire Moorlands, whilst being a trustee for two local charities supporting nature and voluntary youth services. Alana loves to be outdoors, and observing wildlife but also enjoys escaping into the fantasy of a good book, and gathering folks around the table for a cup of tea and a boardgame.
